I try to visit all the Dons away games and having signed a couple of very good players, a trip to the League leaders would see if we could ignite our promotion push.
Went by car and amazingly the M6 was pretty quiet so the trip was stress free.
We had already pre-booked our parking at the Stadium so no time lost trying to find somewhere to park.
Next to the away fans parking area there is a large club called “The Locker” which for a £2 charge allows away fans in. 3 pints for under £15 is good value so well worth the entrance fee. Good mix of home & away fans although the atmosphere was non-existent due to the VERY LOUD music. Why they had a DJ playing club music at lunchtime is beyond me.
Had Chicken Wings and chips in “The Locker” for £9 but even though I love my food, I couldn’t finish them as so many chips.
Only had a black coffee which was very nice.
We sold over 600 tickets so a good atmosphere in our end. Excellent view of the game and certainly one of the better grounds for the away fans in respect of facilities on offer.
Excellent from our end but the home fans were pretty quiet until they went ahead.
The ones we spoke too in “The Locker” were fine so 9 out of 10.
We left straight after the final whistle and clear run back to the M6.
Approximately £60 for an OAP ticket, petrol, food and drink but all in all it’s good value in my book even though we lost.
Very much so.
Went to this game because it’s a new ground for me and one we don’t play away at very often as we only really meet in cup games such as this one. Felt we would win (aged well) due to our form at the time.
I drove me and a mate who lives in Cambridgeshire as that’s where I’m based. Bit of traffic as was midweek after work but not too tough.
Used the away car park right outside the ground. Was easy to get into. Booking it online was a pain as I had to do it via Walsall fc site and had to make an account with them but made getting in/out easy.
View was great. We had a big section of the stadium that was larger than the allocation so we could spread out. The concourse was a bit funny as everything was in different sections. Example, the toilets you had to go through the concourse into the stand, walk to the corner and go around the back of the stand into these tiny facilities.
For a crowd of about 3/4k, it was decent. Walsall came back from 2 down so they made plenty of noise to let us know about it.
10/10.
Pretty easy but it wasn’t a huge crowd.
About £30/40 maybe. Was a decent game in terms of action on the pitch for a £10 cup tie.
Its friendly and a ground to tick off so sure.
First game of the season.
Drove. 2hr 30 minutes. Straight down the M6 so was fine until we got to Birmingham.
We parked on the retail park behind the ground.
Kept it basic and went to the McDonald’s on the retail park.
Pies are great, would definitely recommend.
Lost 1-0 so disappointing. Good day out though and the kids enjoyed it. View was good too.
Both sets of fans were quiet throughout.
Didn’t speak to anyone so 0/10?
I would recommend that if you park on the retail park, wait 1.5-2 hours before leaving until everyone else leaves.
Yes, definitely.
Relatively short journey compared to other fixtures, and to tick another ground off the list. It was also the first game of the season.
Travelled by car which was very easy as it was mostly motorway. Short distance from junction to get back onto M5.
We parked in an industrial estate lane. Was plenty of parking for away fans at the ground and in the train station car park opposite.
Park Inn Hotel (right next to the away end). There was a really good atmosphere, and it was good weather so fans spilled out into the garden and street area.
McDonald’s. In the retail park car park right next to the ground and close to the parking.
A bit aged compared to the rest of the ground. Not very high up even in the back row, where I sat. Still a good view though.
Very good in the away end. Could hear the home fans at opposite end too.
10/10. We didn’t have any issues. There were even comments made at end of the game from home fans wishing us a safe journey back.
Very easy as fans walked off in various directions and it didn’t feel too busy.
Yes!
