I chose this game because I enjoy away days more than home games and I thought it was going to be a good match.
I drove. Bit painful as you have to drive right down into Chester area then across but once past the roadworks on the M6 it’s ok.
I parked on the same street as the away end. Easy.
Wetherspoons in a nearby village. Good value and on the way into Birkenhead so good location too.
I didn’t have any but the pies looked really good.
View was good. It was a Tuesday night game so we were told to choose any seat.
Loud at times but not very constant.
4/10. There were scraps after the game with teenage lads waiting for Morecambe fans outside the gates which was intimidating for young children.
Easy as where we parked was fairly convenient.
£40 for tickets, £30 in fuel and £15 in Wetherspoons. Not bad.
Yes, 100%! Apart from the teenagers at the away end gates, it’s a cracking away day and very close to the M53.
I go to all the Dons games although having been to Tranmere a number of times and always enjoyed it, whatever the result, I was especially looking forward to this game.
Travelled by car with a friend and the journey was easy as most of it was by motorway.
We arrived at approximately 12pm and therefore managed to find a car park space just a short walk away from the ground.
Visited the Fan Zone tent and enjoyed a few excellent pints of beer. Bit cold to begin with but warmed up a bit when the Home fans arrived. Very good atmosphere and we had a wonderful discussion about other grounds visited with a Tranmere fan.
Had a meat pie in the ground which was excellent. 2 pies & a coffee came to £10-50 which considering the quality of the pies is good value.
Great views and plenty of room to move about.
I was rather disappointed by the lack of noise from the Tranmere fans during the match as I know they can be loud. I suspect it was because the Dons bossed the game (65% possession with 24 shots on goal against just 5 shots by Tranmere) and it seemed that only our 340+ fans made some noise. Getting a 97th minute winner certainly helped the atmosphere in the away end!
10/10.
Just a short walk back to the car with no problems getting back to the motorway.
Food, drink, OAP ticket and petrol came to about £73 so I suppose I should cut back on the drink!!!
Very much so. Good food & drink with great views on the pitch and friendly fans.
Prior to the match one of our fans became ill and needed the assistance of the stewards. They were wonderful and sorted him out. A credit to their club.
