I always go to our away games and having suffered a defeat midweek, it was a must win game for the Dons.
Went by car with friends and no problems getting to our parking space.
Went to St Joseph’s school and paid £5 to park. Easy to find and the stadium is about a 10 minute walk away.
Originally we were going to the Cricket Club where we have been before without any trouble. When we got there the doorman said “sorry but home fans only”. Most strange as never any trouble before and I don’t understand why we weren’t allowed in. The doorman suggested the Bar in the ground which is for away fans only but we already knew that was closed! He then suggested the Merlin Pub which we then walked to for a pint and some food. Mainly home fans but no trouble.
Had a Cornish Pasty at half time for £5 which was one of the best I have tasted for a while.
We had a very good view of the game although our seats were very old and not comfortable at all. Bit of a squeeze getting in and out of the toilets though so don’t wait till the last moment would be my advice. Good entrance and exits though which made getting out of the ground very easy.
Good atmosphere throughout but as we bossed the game the home fans were very quiet on the whole.

No problems walking back to the car and light traffic going back to Milton Keynes.
Food, drink and share of petrol came to about £35 but my ticket cost £22 for an OAP. Expensive to say the least for the facilities offered.
Yes and no. Yes for ease of getting there and the good view from the stand but no in respect of the ticket cost and the toilet facilities.
It was our first visit to Swindon. Both teams were playing excellent football in the lead up to the game so promised to be a great game.
We travelled by car via M60, M56, M6, M5 and then an A road, and there was very little traffic so it was no problem.
We parked at a pub called the Swiss Charles and walked the 15 minutes from there to the stadium.
We were at the Swiss Charles which wasn’t the best but had a very friendly Landlord. There were Swindon fans in there who we chatted to and had a good conversation about the game.
We ate at a chippy nearby the pub after some advice by the locals that the food at the stadium was overpriced.
We didn’t eat in the ground as some Swindon fans had told us it wasn’t great and that it was expensive.
Stadium was old, however, felt safe and no problems. We were allocated the corner of the Arkell stand, (according to records 770 of us). There was a great atmosphere, and a great game, which we won 4-2. No problems with Swindon fans all, as we all joined in together for a minutes silence for Remembrance Day.

Really easy and we had a great journey back to Stockport.
Cost for the day: Petrol £61, breakfast £5.90 and beer £20.
I would definitely recommend this away day. The local people were very helpful. My only complaint was that there was just 1 toilet facility for what could be up to 1,000 fans.
