I try to visit all the Dons games and this was the 1st of 3 away games that were originally due to be played on a Saturday but postponed due to the weather.
Travelled on the official coach which was a long journey on the M6.
Visited Jim’s Bar which is adjacent to the ground and allows away fans in. Very good atmosphere and helped by a musician playing good songs on his guitar.
Ate a meat & potato pie with gravy in Jim’s Bar which was very good and at £4 was well worth it.
Just had a coffee inside the ground which was standard fare.
Stood on the Terraces which means you are very near the pitch and offers excellent views.
With a crowd of just over 1,000, there was not much of an atmosphere especially as both teams were quite poor.
9/10
We had to wait a while for the coach to arrive back at the ground to pick us up. Luckily it had stopped raining and wasn’t as cold as it could have been. I understand this is “normal” practise although no idea why.
For an OAP ticket, coach travel, food & drink than about £63 which is normal for an away game in the North.
Yes, one of the better away days.
I was told that one of their Stewards was a bit over zealous in asking an elderly person to move along. Pity as the ones I spoke to were fine.
Fleetwood was one of the away trips that I wasn’t going to do this year but after a win at home for our first game of the season it pushed me to do Fleetwood as it was the first away game for the season.
Travelled from Plymouth to Fleetwood by car. Journey was fine going up just a long 5hr 30 min journey and felt even longer home with the result.
Lots of street parking around the ground. Recommend Gordon Road! Only a 2 minute walk and easy to get out after the game.
The stadium have their own bar called Jim’s which welcomed away fans. Highly recommended. Lots of TVs to watch the early kick off and friendly atmosphere, get there early and you’ll get a seat or even a booth area with TV’s in the wall.
Selection of food was good!
Away fans were behind the goal which was always a plus and was standing on the terrace. View was good just a small stand.
Poor atmosphere! Couldn’t hear anything from the home fans. The only noise they made was when they played that awful song when they scored which had put me off on another visit to the ground.
10/10
With them having a low capacity and still not filling it leaving the ground was very easy.
Ticket: £17 Hotel: £41 including breakfast (need to pay for a room which was £63 but we halved that as there was two per room) Petrol: Roughly £120
If you live far away I wouldn’t recommend going to this shed (ground) but it’s a nice away day for people living near by.
