I always go to the away games with the Dons but as I had never been to Barrow it made it a more exciting trip to look forward to.
Went by car with a couple of friends. A very easy journey (M1 then M6 then A590) albeit very long.
Parked in nearby ASDA as we had pre-booked a space in advance. I understand from talking to a Barrow fan that we could have parked for free nearby though.
Visited the Supporter’s Bar which not only sold good cheap beer but had a great atmosphere. Highly recommended!
Had a meat pie in the ground which was one of the best I’ve eaten for a while. Good value as well. Aldo had a coffee which was ok.
Lots of posts and also couldn’t see the touchline nearest us plus one of the corners. The stand is temporary I think but at least it is covered. We were also next to a race track by the sound of the cars & bikes whizzing along during the game.
No noise from the home fans until they scored and even our normally noisy fans were quiet. Rubbish game that should have been 0-0 until they scored and then we were lucky it stayed at just 1-0.
10/10.
Short walk back to the car and no problems getting our journey home underway.
For an OAP ticket (£16) plus my share of the petrol & food & drink I spent about £75 which for a day out with friends is good value. Shame about the team’s performance and result.
Very much so although if visiting during the early months of the season (as it’s in Lake District country) then leave plenty of travel time as only 1 road into Barrow.
The home fans were really friendly and if possible I would have given them a higher score than 10 out of 10!
